Early October Weekend in Charming Krakow
Krakow is one of Europe’s most beautiful medium sized cities. I put it near the top of my favorite towns to wander around. It has world class city strolling, restaurants, street food, and sightseeing.
And what a bargain! Hotel rooms or apartments at one third the cost of London or Paris. Fantastic restaurants at half the price of the US or the big cities of Western Europe. While popular with European travelers, it’s a city that most Americans have never heard of, let alone thought of visiting. Unless of course, you are Polish American. 😊
Scroll through the photos for a taste of what to expect. Or click on one to scroll through the full resolution versions. You can see all of this for free, except for the Kosciusko Museum and Mound, high above Krakow. Entry was 15 ZL, which is about $3.75 at the moment.
- Main Market Square (Rynek Glowny) Krakow
- Mmmm. Donuts. Rivals Beilers in Philly for airy sweet goodness.
- Yes, it’s leaning, but not that much.
- Where to get a Philly cheesesteak in Krakow. https://goo.gl/maps/mjjz1kvAX7GSoro9A
- Does anybody know what time it is? Does anybody really care?
- I had dinner here. Ribs with sauerkraut and fries. Really good. Great price, and a great spot on the main Market Square.
- View from my hotel, Hotel Poleskie. Funky place, but the price was right, and the view was amazing. Free breakfast with all you can eat open buffet, great for spreading Covid19.
- The guard was deep in thought.
- She was having a ball.
- Krakow’s Wawel Castle at night
- Notice they all stopped to read the warning signs. I wonder what Mom was thinking.
- The shadow knows. Note that hat, but not in Croatia.
- Neighborhood farmers’ market
- Kosciusko Museum and Mound, high above Krakow. Entry was 15 ZL, which is about $3.75 at the moment
